ABOUT LYNDAL WESTMORELAND

I graduated high school in 1976 from Marietta High School in Marietta, Oklahoma.  I attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University and received a degree in speech education and a minor in English education.  I attended East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, and studied theatre and speech, receiving a masters of science in 1982.  I taught for seven years from August of 1982 to May of 1989 at Felt Public School in the Oklahoma Panhandle.

In August of 1989, I began teaching at Okarche High School, and I have been here since.  I have taught a variety of language arts classes here at OHS, and I have been the director of speech, drama, and debate activities since accepting the position.

I am formerly national board certified teacher (I decided not to renew when my certicate expired), and I was honored to be one of twelve finalists for the Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year for 2012.  I am the regional speech tournament director for the 3A/4A Southwest Regional Speech and Debate Tournament.

My wife Jerri, who is also a teacher, and I live in El Reno.  Jerri is the library media specialist at Binger-Oney Public Schools and teaches elementary social studies.
